Our story begins a little over 100 years ago in 1899 with the Buehler family beginning to farm a small patch of land off the Spring River near Mount Vernon, Missouri in the heart of the Ozarks.

We began with a small dairy production and grew traditional row crops such as corn, wheat, hay, and soybeans.

After four generations of Buehler’s, David and Ann made the decision to diversify their crop base with a focus on elderberries and other therapeutic crops.

ELDERBERRY / ELDERFLOWER PRODUT FAQs

Elderberry and elderflower are parts of the elderberry bush. The botanical name for the elderberry plant is sambucus cannadensis (American Elderberry). Elderflowers are white or cream flower clusters that bloom in May through early July and are pollinated by insects into the berries known as elderberries.

Elderberries have been used traditionally for hundreds of years as a natural immune boosting remedy for the common cold/flu. Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine” even referred to the elderberry as his personal medicine chest! Studies are even starting to prove the elderberry’s validity of immune system boosting claims by putting them to the test in double blind clinical trials and have suggested that the elderberry has the potential to relieve flu/cold symptoms 2-4 days quicker than antibiotics with placebo.

Yes! We source only 100% American Elderberry from our family farms located in Southwest Missouri in the heart of the Ozarks. We pick our berries at the peak of ripeness over 3 weeks to ensure our berries can harness as many nutrients from nature as possible.

The stems, roots, bark, wood, seeds, and unripe berries contain a compound known as cyanogenic glycoside. This is also found in apricot seeds, apple pits, and when consumed in large quantities can cause an upset stomach and diarrhea. Cooking ripe elderberries down into a concentrated syrup ensures a delicious and nutritious supplement with no unwanted side effects.

CBD PRODUCT FAQs

CBD is a cannabinoid produced naturally in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoid refers to the class of plant compounds primarily found in the cannabis plant. Cannabis can be industrial hemp or medical marijuana. CBD-rich hemp extract sourced from industrial hemp is legal in all 50 states. CBD has been shown to have antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anti-seizure, and even anti-cancer properties. There are over a hundred known cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, most of which are found in only trace amounts. CBD is not psychotropic, or does not produce a ‘high.’ Users report feelings of reduced stress, better sleep, less pain/inflammation, and much more.

This is not a simple answer as CBD works in our bodies in various ways, most of which are still being studied. Our bodies are extraordinary machines and uses various systems to communicate with each other when things aren’t in perfect harmony. Our bodies always want to be in balance, for example: maintaining a stable body temperature, our cardiovascular system maintaining a healthy blood pressure, our immune system fighting off disease and infection, etc.

Researchers originally trying to figure out how THC interacts in the human body discovered a biochemical communication system that is present in all systems of the human bodies. This system was named the endocannabinoid system. Endo- meaning internal, and cannabinoid referring to the class of compounds found in the cannabis plant. They found that cannabinoids attach themselves and lock onto cannabinoid receptors that are found in all systems of the body. These receptors are called CB1 and CB2. These receptors signal parts of the body that aren’t acting in homeostasis and work to synthesize endocannabinoids to naturally help the imbalance. Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids whether we have ever ingested cannabis or not, but science is showing that as age and diet related stressors take tolls on our bodies, we naturally produce less endocannabinoids over time, which is called endocannabinoid deficiency syndrome.

The good news is that a regular dose of CBD-rich hemp extract helps to balance the body’s naturally occurring endogenous cannabinoids and helps to keep the body in homeostasis. Much research is still to be done on CBD and how it fully interacts with our bodies and our endocannabinoid system. We encourage you to do your own research and read the thousands of different studies and articles on CBD and make the decision for yourself!

www.projectCBD.org is a great resource that promotes the international leading research and clinical studies on all things cannabis and cannabinoids. They are publicly funded, non-biased, and do not endorse any particular brands.

Industrial hemp and Medical cannabis are genetically the same plant originating from cannabis sativa L, but are vastly different in various ways.

Industrial hemp by legal definition is a cannabis plant with a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) level of 0.3% or less. Industrial hemp is primarily made up of CBD and trace amounts of over 85 different cannabinoids. Any strain of cannabis with THC levels higher than 0.3%, by legal definition, is considered medical cannabis. The THC content of medical cannabis is typically in the 10-30% range and can have zero CBD, some CBD, or mostly CBD. There are thousands of different strains of cannabis with vastly different cannabinoid profiles. Strains can be bred for selective traits based on the profile and experience wanted by the farmer/user

We currently source our hemp extract from organic hemp farms in Massachusetts and our hemp is 100% Farm Bill Compliant.

We would love to say that we are growing our own industrial hemp currently as granted by the Missouri State Constitution and the 2018 Farm Bill, but the Missouri Department of Agriculture needs to stop holding their feet and allow Missouri farmers to grow without restriction. Hemp is now federally legal and many states have had hemp programs in place since 2014. We encourage you to write your representatives and tell them to allow Missouri farmers to commercially grow hemp without restrictions and to allow farmers to plant the 2019 growing season.

We use a proprietary extraction process that isolates each individual cannabinoid and terpenoid using a supercritical CO2 extraction. The individual compounds are added back together, but without THC. This results in a THC-Free extraction while still maintaining 99.9% all of the other benefits of a Full-Spectrum Extract. You and your family can be confident and without worries. We have third party tests with each batch to ensure quality.

If you have ever heard of the consumption of poppy seeds leading to a positive drug test for opioids, the consumption of certain hemp products may lead to a positive drug test for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is inherently present in hemp in trace amounts. The legal limit of THC in hemp is 0.3%. Our broad spectrum hemp extract contains less than four-hundredths of a percent THC content. ( The science behind the conversion of certain cannabinoids like CBD when consumed, to cannabinoids like THC is not yet fully understood. The risk is incredibly low, but with factors such as individual biochemistry and the possibility of cannabinoids converting over time, we strongly suggest consulting your health care provider before consuming any hemp products if you are subject to drug testing.

Yes, we do! Our hemp is tested multiple times at all points of production to ensure safety, consistency, and transparency. We use third party testing with each batch and you can review the results here.
